Reminiscing about the good old days of the past, places where we met, and the nostalgia of film-like images as captured through the lens of a vintage 6MP CCD Fujifilm FinePix BigJob HD-3W, a ruggedized all-weather digital camera built for the construction and engineering industry. The HD-3W, introduced by FujiFilm in 2007, is still as valid today as the easy-to-use, go-anywhere camera is waterproof, dustproof, shockproof, and can withstand a drop up to 70cm.

The HD-3W should fit well the needs of the sporting outdoorsman, with its wide-angle 3 x (28-84mm equivalent) optical zoom lens, a 3-inch LCD screen, ISO sensitivity of up to 1600, a shutter speed range from 2 to 1/2000 second, and buttons that are easy to use even with gloved hands. For times when a flash is needed, the built-in strobe enables a longer flash distance of up to 10 meters. For the techno, the HD-3W also features Detection of Manipulation (to check for image tempering) and CALS (takes 1MP photos for e-mail distribution) modes.

The ability to take low-noise, high-quality film-like images is also enhanced on the HD-3W by the provision of a selectable emulation mode which can be set to Standard, F-Chrome, and F-B&W, with the 2 latter two items listed and displayed on the LCD as film roll icons. The Fujifilm FinePix BigJob HD-3W is powered by a pair (2x) of easily replaceable AA batteries.

An interesting follow-up to the initial Fujifilm FinePix BigJob HD-3W 6MP CCD, Take I shots I posted earlier. These two sets of images were shot with the simple FinePix Color Picture Modes selection available on the camera. The settings available were for FinePix Standard (first image), FinePix Chrome (second image), and FinePix B&W (third image), with the latter two modes listed and displayed on the LCD with film roll icons.

The subtle difference in characteristics between the Standard and Chrome Picture Modes does make it a bit harder to choose which emulation you would want to choose when preparing for the shoot. If you are for the emphasis on the objects in the image, where the colors and environment are rendered more vividly, the FinePix Chrome setting might be the choice for you.

The selection is available through the Shooting Mode menu. To access, press the center button on the Cursor Joystick circle and move down the menu selection list to the last listing, FinePix Color. Next, press the right cursor button, and you will have access to the three options - F Standard, F-Chrome, and F B&W. Both the F-Chrome and F-B&W film roll icons will also be displayed on the LCD screen when selected.

The Fujifilm BigJob HD-3W, a 6MP CCD digital camera, built with a ruggedized waterproof, dustproof, and shockproof all-weather body built for the construction and engineering industry, was initially made available only for the Japanese domestic market before it was introduced to Europe in 2007.

The camera, a rather plain and boxy brickbat, comes with a shutter speed range from 2 to 1/2000 second, a 3x wide-angle Fujinon 4.7-14.1 (28-84mm equivalent) lens, a 3-inch LCD with reinforced glass coating, hot shoe, a powerful built-in flash, and ISO 1600 capability is powered by 2x AA batteries.

The Fujifilm FinePix BigJob HD-3W is highly usable by both the casual user and the outgoing outdoorsman. The operation of the autoexposure camera is made simple with easy access buttons, mode dial, and menu systems that are accessible even for users with gloves.

Exposure modes can be configured for Auto (the BigJob HD-3W does not have PASM modes), Manual (where you can manually adjust the ISO and Exposure Compensation), Scene Position (with selection for Portrait, Landscape, Sport, Night, and Text), and Movie.

The Fujifilm FinePix BigJob HD-3W is also accredited with two worlds first, the CALS mode which records images at 1MP for attaching and easy distribution via email, and Detection Manipulation, a feature that highlights tampering to pictures after the photo has been taken (via viewer software check).

The camera is also programmed with a Shot Date function, making the camera functionally useful for monitoring and reporting work progress, insurance, and forensic applications. CCD images captured with the camera are, of course, par excellence.

Took the 6MP CCD Fujifilm FinePix BigJob HD-3W out on a short outing recently, and the images shot with the camera, showing the ambiance of my regular start to and drop-off from the LRT station, as usual, did not disappoint. The all-weather dustproof, waterproof, and shockproof workhorse has been the constant companion on my recent outings and has proven itself, at least for CCD image enthusiasts, as a compact digital that is completely capable of delivering sharp and sure images.

The camera, designed for the engineering and construction industry and made available initially only to the Japanese domestic market in 2007, also comes with a couple of deft features (image manipulation check, and micro 1MP image shots) which make it equally useful for forensic and insurance investigations. Fast forward to 2024, the easy-to-use point-and-shoot camera with buttons designed for the gloved hand and toughened glass lens cover is all set for the rough-and-tough outdoors, and occasionally, the extreme environment.

While the Fujifilm FinePix BigJob HD-3W may not be seen as a common feature on online auction sites and brick-and-mortar stores, it is, at least for the CCD enthusiast, an all-weather compact digital capable of capturing images with excellent IQ. Prices are still for the asking, and all you need is a small-capacity SD card and a pair of AA batteries to get the camera going. Highly recommended!

Still enjoying my time with the Fujifilm FinePix BigJob HD-3W here, with another quick dash out of the door, and another pre-scheduled post, with images post-processed in black-and-white,  for the holidays. Looks like the BigJob HD-3W, a very likable ruggedized 6MP CCD digital, is growing on me, and will probably end up being the go-to camera as and when or at any time I need to be outside.

This water, dust, and shockproof camera can withstand a fall height of 0.7 meters. comes with a simple autoexposure shooting menu, easy access buttons for users wearing gloves, a scratch-resistant lens cover, a huge 3-inch LCD screen, and a powerful 10-meter flash. Manufactured for use within the harsh environments of the construction, engineering, health and safety, and manufacturing industries, the camera is equally adaptable to the rough and tough enthusiasts outdoors.

For its own specialized use, the camera came with two world firsts: a mode to check for image manipulation after the picture was recorded, and image capture at 1MP for easy distribution by e-mail. The camera also comes with three emulation modes - F-Standard, F-Chrome, and F-B&W, with the latter two indicated on the LCD screen as film-roll icons. Access to these modes is via the Shooting Menu.

A camera I am rather excited about now is the 6MP CCD Fujifilm FinePix BigJob HD-3W, an easy and simple-to-use ruggedized digital camera that is encased in a water, shock, and dustproof body. The camera was initially produced for the Japanese domestic market before it was introduced to the UK and Europe in 2007. The camera is fitted with a wide-angle Fujinon 3x 4.7-14.1 (28-84mm equivalent) lens, with ISO 1600 light sensitivity, and a powerful flash that is effective up to 10 meters.

Form-wise, the camera is a rectangular medium-sized body with rubber grips and big buttons, capable of withstanding a drop test to 70cm. Just like the previous 35mm film version of the Fuji Work Record OP, the BigJob HD-3W is designed to be used in challenging environments of construction, engineering, health and safety, and manufacturing industries.

An early morning session with the Fujifilm FinePix BigJob HD-3W, a heavy-duty, ruggedized all-weather 6MP CCD digital camera for CCD enthusiasts who are out and about, and on the go. The camera is water, dust, and shockproof, can withstand a fall of up to 0.7 meters, and comes with a reinforced glass coating cover wide-angle 3x (28-84mm) optical zoom lens, a big 230,000 pixels 3-inch LCD, ISO sensitivity of up to 1600 for the low noise in low light level shots, and a powerful flash that can be set for up to 10 meters. The camera is powered by a pair of easily available AA batteries.

The camera is reminiscent of the 35mm point-and-shoot autoexposure cameras of the old, easy to use, and comes with ample-sized buttons and a layout that is equally easy to use while wearing gloves, a 5 mode exposure selection button (Auto, Manual, Scene Position, Movie, and CLS), and an equally simplified shooting menu that can be accessed through the LCD interface. The camera has an automatic shutter speed range from 2 to 1/2000 second, has a 27MB internal flash memory, and stores images on xD-Picture Cards. In Manual mode, the camera can be set to a fixed ISO sensitivity level.

When the camera was first introduced to the UK and Europe in 2007, it was also promoted as having two world firsts, a 'Detection of Manipulation' system that records whether an image has been edited since it was first shot, and CALS, a mode also takes 1-megapixel pictures for quick and easy distribution by email. The camera was perfect for forensic and insurance investigations then, and could very well be today's go-to camera for the rough-and-tough adventurous outdoors

I am still quite taken aback by spending more time with the 6MP CCD Fujifilm FinePix BigJob HD-3W, a ruggedized all-weather camera manufactured for the construction and engineering industry. Initially available for the Japanese domestic market, the camera was introduced to the UK and Europe in 2007.

The camera's easy-to-use setting and control features include a function to set the camera to macro mode, and macro distances of 2.5 and 5 meters.

Just like its 35mm film predecessor, the Fuji Work Record 35mm film camera series, this digital version is also water, shock, and dustproof, able to stand a drop of up to 0.6 meters. The camera should be equally adaptable, not only for garden close-ups like these but for hard and tough outdoor adventures as well. For insurance and forensic purposes, the camera is fitted with a system to detect manipulation of images, and easy e-mail transfers with 1MP images.

For whatever reason, the camera was used and favored when it was first introduced. My current thought was that this great camera, with its fantastic CCD sensor images, is worth a lot more than just a low-cost auction item that I paid for (just slightly over UK £20).

The camera is still growing on me, I just couldn't lay any faults on the CCD images, and I am happy to say that this is one camera I can take practically anywhere in whatever weather condition I am willing to face.
