It is very compact and lightweight, measuring only 22.5mm thick when retracted and weighing approximately 93 grams.
Optically, it consists of 8 elements in 7 groups, including one Super High Refractive (HR), one Extra-low Dispersion (ED), and three aspherical elements to ensure sharpness and reduce aberrations. It has a 37mm filter thread that does not rotate during focusing, beneficial for using polarizers or ND filters. The lens offers a minimum focusing distance of 20cm at 14mm and 25cm at 42mm, with a maximum magnification ratio of around 0.23x.
The lens uses a Movie & Still Compatible (MSC) autofocus system that is fast, quiet, and precise, ideal for both still photography and video. Its electronic retraction mechanism automatically extends and retracts the lens when powering the camera on or off, adding to its portability and convenience. However, it lacks in-lens image stabilization, relying on in-body stabilization in compatible cameras.

Olympus E-PM2
The Olympus PEN E-PM2, a compact, mirrorless interchangeable lens Micro 4/3 digital camera, launched in 2012, updates the E-PM1 with an adaptation of the class-leader in image quality, the 16MP CMOS sensor from the OM-D E-M5, TruePic VI image processor, a suite of art filters, 460,000 pixels 3.0-inch touch-sensitive LCD screen, in-body image stabilization, and Raw image capture. Being truly compact, the E-PM2 does not have any external mode dial and relatively few physical controls, with the claim of having the smallest and lightest footprint of any Olympus ILC. The E-PM2 measures 110 x 64 x 34 mm, weighs 269 grams, and saves images on SD/SDHC/SDXC cards.
