The Fujifilm FinePix S2 Pro, part of a series of four professional interchangeable-lens digital SLR cameras, includes the S1 Pro (2000), S2 Pro (2002), S3 Pro (2004), and S5 Pro (2006), built with Fujifilm's proprietary Super CCD image sensor and electronics, mounted with the front and top of Nikon F-mount film and digital bodies. The design allows the cameras to be fully compatible with autofocus Nikkor 35mm lenses, including G, AF-S, and VR series.

The camera is renowned for its vibrant, film-like skin tones and high dynamic range, making it a legendary tool among portrait, wedding, and studio photographers in the early 2000s.

The Super CCD image sensors, which can output up to 12MP files from their 6MP physical form (via proprietary processing), are designed with their photodiodes arranged in an octagonal honeycomb structure for better light-gathering efficiency, higher signal-to-noise ratios, and a distinct film-like color rendition (especially for skin tones).

Technically, the S2 Pro includes a 6.17MP APS-C SuperCCD III sensor, an ISO range from 100 to 1600, a shutter speed range of 30 to 1/4000 second, and Bulb mode, with 2 frames per second continuous shooting. The camera is also fitted with a 118,000-dot 1.8-inch TFT LCD screen, and dual memory card slots for CompactFlash (Type I/II / Microdrive) and SmartMedia cards.

The S2 Pro utilizes a hybrid power setup requiring 4 AA batteries (for digital circuitry and lower back panel) plus 2 CR123A lithium batteries (for the top LCD, shutter mechanism, flash, and autofocus motor). The body measures approximately 142 x 131 x 80mm, and weighs 850 grams with batteries.

Images here were shot with the FinePix S2 Pro mounted with an AF Nikkor 35-70mm f/3.3-4.5, a compact, lightweight vintage screw-drive autofocus standard zoom lens introduced in 1986. The lens is an 8-element in 7-group optical design with 6 aperture blades, a minimum focusing distance of 0.5 meters with macro functionality at 70mm, takes 52mm filters, measures 69x70.5mm, and weighs 260 grams.
